8 Phrases That Program Your Mind To Live Your Best Life Every Night Before Sleep
fizkes / ShutterstockIf you’re trying to manifest something, rewire your belief system, change your perspective, or heal from a deep wound, there's a special window of time that exists right before you fall asleep that might just be the key to accomplishing anything you want.
As a study from the PLOS One journal explains, you’re essentially telling your brain what to remember and consolidate before sleeping. In this case, people who slept after learning something retained it better, and the same could be true for anything, including a manifestation or a wish you’re speaking into the Universe. It’s essentially in your power to live your best life by speaking these phrases to yourself every night before you fall asleep.
Saying these phrases right before you go to sleep every night can reprogram your mind to live your best life
1. ‘I have everything I need’

An abundance mindset, or the belief that everything is available to you all the time, is powerful, especially when you train your mind to truly digest it. If your subconscious mind believes that every opportunity, lesson, dream you desire, or thing you want to achieve is at your fingertips and perfectly realistic, as it is, you operate and live differently.
So, before bed, remind yourself of all that abundance. Tell yourself: "I have everything that I need” or “I can make my dreams come true.” You might be surprised by how you show up the next day, and for the next few weeks after practicing this ritual consistently.
2. ‘I always find a way’
Sometimes, resilience is best taught in this magical space before bed. Yes, oftentimes facing challenges, going through discomfort, and dealing with adversity is the key to building strength. However, it’s also possible for your subconscious to simply believe that you’re powerful enough to get through whatever life throws your way.
You don’t need anything but what you already have and what you’re already capable of to handle what life throws at you.
3. ‘I trust the Universe will guide me’
Sometimes, we need to get a little woo-woo to really appreciate divine timing, spiritual shifts, and magical manifestations. What’s the worst that can happen? Training your subconscious mind to believe the Universe will guide you to the right people, places, and opportunities might encourage you to live more presently and appreciate the mundane parts of life that are easy to overlook.
Even if appreciating the small things in life is the only noticeable shift you experience, that’s a powerful way to live a better life. It’s simply a reminder that you don’t have to pressure yourself and hustle to find joy in everything life offers.
4. ‘I release everything that’s not meant for me’
Because the brain tends to retain what we teach it in the space before falling asleep, it can be a powerful time to visualize what’s working in our lives and release what’s not. Whether it’s energy from others we’re tired of taking on or worries about work the next day, choose to let it go.
Saying “I release what’s not meant for me” is a great way to do that. Let sleep do the work and stop taking on things that aren’t meant for you.
5. ‘I cannot control what I cannot control’

So many of us desperately try to control things we can’t actually shift, whether it’s other people’s opinions, work obligations, or comparison, because we aren’t sure how to control our own inner turmoil and insecurities. It’s a natural human instinct to want predictability, but sometimes, leaning into the discomfort of uncertainty and focusing on what you can actually control is where real change happens.
Letting go of control doesn’t mean doing nothing and expecting everything to work out. It simply means focusing on what you can change: your emotional state, how you regulate, what you spend your time and energy on, and how you show up for yourself.
6. ‘I am safe’
Whether it’s a literal way to release tension and stress in your body, preventing you from relaxing in bed, or a way to calm your nervous system down after a day filled with urgency, stress, and demands, “I am safe” is one of the more powerful phrases you can use at bedtime. This kind of reassurance changes how we show up.
Instead of operating in fight-or-flight mode all the time, our subconscious mind can choose to believe we’re safe, even when challenges and adversity occur. Start telling yourself that you’re safe and showing up to safeguard yourself, and everything changes for the better.
7. ‘I am worthy’
As simple as the last one, an affirmation like “I am worthy” is profound, whether you’re standing in front of the mirror getting ready or drifting off to bed at night. Even if we put on a show of confidence, if we don’t believe we’re worthy of all the good things, like love or manifestations, we’ll unknowingly sabotage ourselves constantly during waking hours.
Remind your inner self that you are worthy, even if it takes some practice to match your thoughts with that inner baseline over time.
8. ‘Something good is headed my way’

When we lead with optimism in life, rather than fear or pessimism, we set ourselves up for success. Not only do we protect longevity and physical health in unexpected ways, but we change how present we are in life. When we’re expecting the best, we’re more likely to find it. Unfortunately, that also means when we expect the worst, it’s also there waiting for us.
So, be intentional about what you’re choosing to spend energy and attention on, and let this phrase before bed work at shifting your subconscious so you notice the good automatically.
